Nature-based solutions (NbS) can generate diverse social impacts, affecting local communities' health, equity, inclusivity, and well-being. Assessing the social dimension can help optimise NbS to align with social needs and preferences, generating support and investments. Here we present materials and guidance to:

  • understand the different social impacts that NbS can generate and
  • help you monitor social impacts over time.

The CLEVER Guidance was developed as a final product of the CLEVER Cities project, showcasing the extensive work done over the project’s lifetime (2018 – 2023). The development process has been coordinated by McKenna Davis (Ecologic Institute). We would like to sincerely thank all who have been involved for their valuable inputs, including our CLEVER Cities partners - especially Tecnalia for overseeing the Lessons Learned, Pensoft for the website design, and Rob Roodgras for the wonderful illustrations.
